Myofascial Release Therapy in Tucson
Get out of pain and back to doing what you love.
A Gentle, Hands-On Approach
Myofascial Release therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach for chronic pain, tension, restricted movement, and body patterns that haven’t fully responded to other treatments.
Rather than forcing the body to change, this work meets you where you are and gives your body time to respond.
Who It’s For
Myofascial Release may be a good fit if pain or tension is getting in the way of how you want to move, exercise, work, or live your daily life.
I work with people experiencing concerns such as:
Hip and low back pain
SI joint pain
Neck and shoulder tension
Headaches and migraines
Fibromyalgia and chronic pain
Nerve pain
Sciatica
Scar tissue and adhesions
Chronic muscle tension and stiffness
Restricted movement or mobility
Pain that has continued despite PT, massage, chiropractic care, stretching, or other approaches
A Different Way to Work With Pain
John F. Barnes Myofascial Release® works with restrictions in the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and connects the muscles, bones, joints, organs, nerves, and blood vessels throughout your body.
Rather than forcing the body to change, Myofascial Release uses gentle, sustained pressure and gives your body time to respond.
Because fascia connects the whole body, treatment may not focus only on the place where you feel pain. We look at the larger patterns of tension and restriction that may be contributing to how you feel and move.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Myofascial Release therapy is a gentle way of working with the fascia to free up tension in the body. We use sustained gentle pressure to slowly melt the fascial restrictions that lead to pain, stiffness, decreased range of motion, muscle tension, and dysfunction throughout the body.
There is no force and this work should not be painful. You may feel stretch, heat, tingling, or burning sensations as the fascia releases, but it is not painful.
-
Myofascial Release therapy works directly with the fascial restrictions we accumulate over a lifetime and can transform long-standing patterns of tension, pain, and dysfunction.
Myofascial Release is gentle and does not push past where the body is ready to go. Most massage techniques focus on relaxing muscles, which can feel good and relax the body but does not change the fascia or reduce fascial restrictions.
-
The body and fascia change at their own pace and Myofascial Release is patient. Most people notice relief right away and that change grows over time in a non-linear way as they get consistent treatment.
When you make time to work with your body on the fascial level, the effects can ripple out in unexpected and profound ways.
